Fall 2020 Trends

Not to be biased, but fall is definitely our favorite season when it comes to fashion. The second the air drops below 65 degrees, we’re ready to whip out our sweaters and boots. We rounded up our favorite fall trends straight from the runway and show you how to incorporate these trends into your quarantine wardrobe.

TREND: PLAID

From school uniforms to flannels, there’s just something about the combination of plaid and the crisp fall air that feels like a fresh beginning. This year, the classic print is popping up in some not-so-classic color combinations, making for some fun and unexpected looks.

Seen on the runway: Tod’s, Versace, Victoria Beckham, Michael Kors, Preen and Brock Collection

How to wear it

When it comes to plaid, anything goes. Make it the statement piece of your look with a bold jacket, some stretchy pants, or a flowy dress. Or if you’re really feeling up to it, go all out with a head-to-toe silky matching set. If a subtler approach is more your speed, try out a plaid accessory, like a headband or a flat instead. Our Margot cover’s olive shade is the perfect non-neutral neutral that will allow your plaid to be the star of the show.

TREND: METALLICS

From disco ball sparkles to liquid metal draping, metallics were shimmering all over the Fall runways. The metallic sheen adds a modern twist to a fancy dress coat and makes already cool powersuits that much cooler.

While metallics most certainly add a dose of glamour to any outfit, they don’t only need to be reserved only for fancy occasions. A toned down gold or silver handbag or sneaker works as a great everyday item while gold and silver jewelry is a no-brainer. Glitz up your daily walk in metallic silver leggings and a bit of sparkle to your next Zoom call with a bronze body suit, or a shimmery blazer. Still rocking your sweats and a tee? No problem. Take your loungewear to the next level by throwing on a silver sequined duster and you’re golden!

TREND: ELECTRIC BLUE

While more muted tones typically dominate the Fall color palette, this vibrant jolt of blue is coming in strong this season and we are definitely here for it. The primary color, which was named Pantone’s color of the year, is surprisingly versatile and is equally impactful when worn as the focal item of your look or as a more subtle accent to provide a bold pop.

This year has definitely got us feeling a little blue (understatement of the century?) but funnily enough, this particular shade of blue is actually a cheerful, optimistic color. While the boldness of the color may feel intimidating, it’s actually easier than you think to incorporate it into your look. Swap out your normal black leggings with a pair in this fun color. Add a pair of cozy velvet shorts and cashmere sweater to your loungewear rotation. Want to accessorize? We got you covered. Throw on a pair of dangly earrings, grab a clutch or slip on these cute and colorful socks.
